Party! Party! Party!

Forgot to mention that the last post was my 1000th blog post!! Yay! I know I have been remiss of late and not posted daily, but I am hoping to get back to that after all my birthday celebrations are over!!
So now I am only one week away from my vintage tea party and two weeks away from my actual birthday day Hog roast, so there are lots of last minute things to do!! I have lists coming out of my ears!!! In between time, hubby is going to Sweden for a week with work and I have to go back to school after the Easter holidays! So much to do, so little time!
I was spurred on to get creative with some silk flowers from Dunelm Mills, as they were on 4 for 3 in a home event they were having, and I figured with my two partys being a week apart and lack of time at the last minute to flower arrange, I would buy some and get creative now!! I have made two, one in a vintage jug I bought from eBay and one in a vintage celery jar from a charity shop (which I thought was a vase until I got it home! Lol!)

I put them to use yesterday when we celebrated with a barbecue, our first this year, and toasted the happy couple using my new champagne glasses from the charity shop! I have to say the flowers were not necessarily a cheaper option, but I will always have them! I intend to add some fresh gypsophila to the arrangement on the day to try and fool everyone!! Right, need to get off and get DS1 packed to go back to Uni today, no crafting in the offing today then! :(

Want to know where I've been?????

On my fiftieth birthday trip to New York City!!! We flew back in yesterday morning and I am still on "silly time" hate this jet lag! Had a great week! Saw Sister Act on Broadway which was hilarious! Walked miles, ate for England and shopped 'til we dropped!!! A once in a lifetime experience and I am k********d! Of course, not a Scrapbook shop to be seen    :( The city that never sleeps should be called the city where money disappears like water!!!! TFLx

Where did you get that hat??? Where did you get that hat!!

A glimpse of the outfit! The dress is nearly done, just the hem to do and a net underskirt. Tried on the eBay hat and the eBay pearls along with the Primark retro sunglasses! No expense spared!! All cost less than a fiver in total!! Lol! TFlx

Phew! What a scorcher!

Can you believe the weather we've been having? I was tempted to get the patio furniture out at the weekend and have a Pimms from my newest set of retro Jug and glasses from a local charity shop this time! I was very lucky last week and got these plus six more champagne saucers and a retro vase from 3 different charity shops! I am sure that if we have the patio furniture out, the weather is bound to turn!! I also had an early birthday present from some friends!
We spent Saturday assembling it
Completed it

and tested it with friends!! TFLx

Recording the eBay buys!

Here is a layout with a hinged flap, (using 7 gypsies tape as a hinge), as I had so many index prints of items I have bought from eBay for my vintage tea party! China glassware and cutlery  have all been documented here! Another great record fro the 50th year album! I used my scallop square punch to punch out each index print and they all had a title from the file name I had given them. I positioned the buttons by dropping a handful and seeing where they landed! With a few little tweaks, they look great! Can't get more random than that!
What a warm day here today! It's walk to school week for us, so I did my duty and walked. I was roasting by the time I walked home carrying my briefcase and my coat! Lol! More eBay parcels were waiting on the doorstep! I now can't resist a 99p bargain!!! Spent tonight clearing out the dresser to fit everything in!! I will resell some of it after the big event.
Time is racing and there is so much still to do! I must finish my dress on Friday, otherwise it might not get done! TFLx

50th Year layout - Japanese quake

I wanted some world events in my 50th year album and you cannot get any bigger than the Japanese Earthquake we had in March, so this was a layout for the month of March I could not miss. I printed out some of my most remembered photo's of the day, the Tsunami, from Google, in a small wallet size and then created a simple layout around them. I used some Crate Paper with clouds and earth colours and then created a simple paper weaving embellishment for the centre with a ribbon interlinked. I am going to hand journal a border using some of the News headlines from the day. The other embellishments are the bubbble border punch to signify the water and the chipboard wave ric rac misted in turquoise blue. Vinyl thickers keep the watery feel. TFLx

Cake Stand number one and a busy weekend!

Well, after a struggle, we have cake stand number one!  Decided to do it on this set in case I had any mishaps. learnt a lot. It is really a two person job so one can hold the plate still whilst the other drills. I bought the special drill bit and with hubby's new drill with adjustable speed, we could drill it very gently. I am pleased with the result and need to send for another handle to make another one now. I have learnt too that you must not over tighten the handle as the middle plate has now got a very slight craze in the glaze.
Busy weekend this weekend. Saturday was our 23rd Wedding anniversary, so we went out for a meal and yesterday was my dad's 87th birthday party as well as being Mother's day, so all in all, the diet went out of the window!! TFLx
