Make your own Day book!

I decided to make my own Daybooks like the American Crafts one by Amy Tangerine. I selected some printed Kraft card stock for the cover and a strip of Hambly acetate as an overlay. I then selected my papers carefully for the pages, from my SC Field Guide kit,  and tried to include some journaling pages and some with random pictures on.

I also included a Sassafras page edge and backed it with another edge trimmed from a different piece. I punched the edge of another page using my border punch. I intend to stamp some random images here and there on the pages when I have decided what the theme is. I folded and creased each page with my bone folder and then stitched them all together carefully using my sewing machine on its largest stitch. I have already prepped another three!! Loving these little beauties! Have you any spare stash you could make one with? This may become my Easter book! TFLx

Project Life week 12 (Really this time!)

This week I added an insert page with the programme from my son's evening of performing arts in it.

I stapled the ticket to the outside of the plastic wallet and stuck a photo on the outside.

The left hand page was an 8 pocket page protector. The lower two pictures were two pictures to a pocket that I did on Photoshop.
The right hand page was a three pocket page protector. This week I included some food packaging from an M&S meal, and a photo-collage made on Picasa of my new gardening exploits!
Everywhere is going mad today with fuel shortages, I think I will have to document that if I go anywhere. Resisting the temptation to fill my car up, particularly now I am on school holidays! Been for a facial today as my Easter treat to myself. Took a scary photo of me minus make up, but not prepared to share it here - too scared!! Might make it into project life though! Pizza Express tonight, with some girlfriends. TFLx

Another altered book! I'm hooked!

I have altered another book, spurred on by my enjoyment of the class I took the other week at SC and concluded here and here.
I bought another book at the old book shop and made a start documenting dad's RAF days.
These are the first 8 pages. I printed off some articles from the internet, about the RAF in Rhodesia and put them in as fold out pages. Still have some journaling to do, but need to check some facts with dad. TFLx

Project Life Week 12 Whoops! It's week 11!

Have managed to do last week over the last couple of days. Not had too much time for crafting but still. Realised I am a week ahead of myself!
I worked Monday and Tuesday this week, so in theory three days off together should give me loads of time but.....you know how it is!

The left hand page was the back of a three pocket page and the right hand page is an eight pocket page. Quite a bit about the altered books I have been making and that we had fibre optic broadband fitted. Also the Leeds Utd shirts I bought for my nephews.
Did some more family tree stuff with my sister and my parents this week, which is always good. Went to an Evening of performing arts on Wed night to watch DS2 and then yesterday was a quick whiz around with the hoover and do the washing, as well as taking a trip to the beautician to get my nails done (Mother's day gift, from the boys) Today I have had the plumber to repair the shower and MKM delivering gravel then I've been to M&S with my parents to get them fixed up with a few things and before you know it, it's the end of week 12! Good job I am managing to keep up with the Photo a day challenge - mostly on my i-phone and sending it by email to my PC. TFLx

Happy Mother's Day!

Posted late I know but I spent the day with my mum, as DS2 was away in London for another audition. We put him on the train and then came back for our M&S Mother's day meal. Hope you had a lovely day too. x

Project Life week 10

These two pages are my Project Life week 10 pages. The large page on the left is made using two page protectors, the lower page is a normal layout and the photo on the top is in a cut down packet, stitched in place and then attached to the lower layer with Washi tape.

The vintage playing card flap at the top can be on the inside or outside of the plastic. The arrows and buttons are also on the outside, the pennants and the dates are underneath. The right hand page is a three pocket protector. TFLx

Altered Book Class part 2

I pressed on and finished my altered book with these pages that I designed myself. It is now quite full! I kept some of the vintage images from the pages I removed and stuck them back in after tearing their edges. Just need to stamp the final page with my "The End" stamp from my SC stamp set! I even found my dog shaped paper clip to include! TFLx

Altered book class

I signed up for a class over at Studio Calico, "Happy little moments" by Maggie Holmes. You pay and then download the PDFs to complete at your leisure. I like this kind of class, then I can come to things as I have time. I signed up on the last day of February and have not started it until Sunday, but I am hooked!! I have been excited to keep going with it and even got up early to do some, before I started my work today!! Unheard of! Here is the book I chose to alter, 'Dog Stories' by Enid Blyton.
Here is the finished book.

This class was all about finding a home for all those "Instagram" pictures you take on your phone and don't always do anything with. I found I had loads of Barney, so hence why I chose the book called "Dog Stories." You don't have to have a themed title, but I thought it would look cute! Maggie gave instructions for how she had done her book, I stuck to the first few page plans, like hers, but then I got carried away and just did what I felt like! I put together my own kit of papers and embellishments before I started and then combined inks, stamping, paints and spray mists to bring together the finished book. The paint on the front cover is Jenni Bowlin Speckled Egg. It was the only colour paint dabber I had of hers, so that's how the colour scheme started. The mist is Studio Calico Bonny Blue. I used some American Crafts Dear Lizzy Neapolitan papers and some Pebbles and Girls Paperie. October afternoon journaling cards. Here are a few of the pages. TFlx
