Thinking December Daily and some enabling!!

As you may know , if you are a regular visitor to my blog, I do a December Daily each year, inspired by Ali Edwards. This  year will be my fourth year. Last year's 2011 album starts here.
2010 edition starts here.
My first one ever, 2009 edition starts here.
I normally make my own albums from recycled envelopes and book pages, diary covers and paper bags, but this year I am having a slight change. Having completed Project Life this year, I am now getting used to working in page protectors and ring binders, so for 2012, I have purchase this Martha Stewart A5 binder from Staples and added a pack of their own brand plastic pockets (much cheaper than Martha's A5 pockets!)
By the way, do not enter Staples unaccompanied unless you want to have the whole Martha Stewart range leave the shop with you!!! I had hubby with me and did manage to talk him into purchasing some of the office desk goodies for my Christmas present!! Love this duck egg colour!
If you follow me on twitter, you will have already seen this!! I am in love!! Anyway, I am thinking my December Daily is going with a aqua, red green theme this year. I have some papers left from last year's Studio Calico Shiny Brite add on
and I have bought Jessic Sprague's Echo Park Paper mini hybrid kit that I think will go perfectly.
If you follow my boards on Pinterest, (see the side bar) I have a December Daily Ideas board inspired by some of the people over at Studio Calico, who decided to share ideas and inspiration (love that community) there you will find some of my favourite ideas that people have shared! I am hoping to have a more streamlined album this year, but we will just have to wait and see!! TFLx

Guess who's going to be fifty????

Yep, you guessed it, finally hubby is going to be fifty, it's taken a while for him to catch me up, but we got there eventually!! I have made some party invitations. I cut some 50 tags with my Silhouette and then printed some cute photo's of him when he was little, coupled those two embellishments with his initials and a Studio Calico "Seriously?" stamp and we were good to go!!He wanted the theme to be gold white and blue, Leeds United colours of course, and I was making these as Leeds beat Everton the other night!!
It was eventually 2-1 but the last time I dared to look and photo the TV screen, just in case it changed, it was all smiles! I printed the inside details on yellow paper too and the text was blue just for good measure!
All set to go! Notice how I attached the tags with a brad on a hand delivery card and ribbon on a postal version so I do not have to pay large letter postage rate, in this country it goes on thickness, so dimension is out of the question! Will need to remember this on my Christmas cards too! TFLx

Week 37

Project Life is coming together, I love looking back on  it! I have made two slideshows of the album so far in the side bar.
I cut the Autumn title with my Cameo and made a couple of collage prints that were 6x4.
I also used a lot of stamps on these two page too.
I like using the ability to photograph the screen on my iPhone to capture details of text messages, tweets and weather shots. I used this feature to make a booklet of tweets that my son has made about the early days starting at dance school in London.
I think this will be great to look back on! Talking of weather it got a lot colder and wetter this week! TFLx

'Girly' pink day book

I made this Day Book for a friend to give to the parents of a little girl who is One. The parents are musicians so this Studio Calico paper was perfect on the cover!
Being 'girly' it needed pink ribbon and lots of butterflies!

Lots of pockets and tags to write on.
Frilly edges and pockets to hide things in.

Some machine stitched pockets to add another dimension.
And pages of different sizes, like Amy Tan's daybooks.

Thanks for looking, I appreciate your visit. X

Paper Bag Album

Just made a paper bag album for someone, using some of my kit bags that my SC papers come in. It makes an album about 12 x 9.
I use a range of coordinated papers cut into 6 in strips, then decorate with other pieces and some Washi tape.

Some pages I trim down to a shorter size so that it introduces variety.
I try to make some pages quite plain for journaling. These are a great gift for people, as they can use them however they want! These pages have hidden pockets too which make them more versatile. TFLx

Week 36 already! .........Done!

My thought process for this week in project life, was that it should be red based, as it was the rest of the trip to London and the closing of the Paralympic games I made a double page spread and printed a large collage print of our remaining London photo's, which I cut and placed either side of the spine, asymmetrically.
This page had the week number at the bottom for a change. Just a few embellishments added here.
The right hand page had some more memorabilia added including tickets, receipts and a cute little business card in the shape of a Fiat 500! I wanted to include some photo's from the Paralympic games too. I printed the photo of Oscar Pistorious from the net and stuck it to some card to make a pocket on the outside of the page protector. I added some loose cards with weather reports stuck on the back of our rail tickets, and some journaling. The cardstock sticker labels are also on the outside of the page protector, this makes the details more accessible.
Still not sure I am going to fit the whole year in the two albums, but I am trying! Off to print off last week's photo's for Week 37! TFLx
P.S. Would you be worried if I said I was researching Christmas Countdown projects??? Lol!

'Car'dmaking again - with my Silhouette!

I needed a clutch of Car cards this week for various birthdays so I decided to make a template on my Silhouette Cameo and then I could cut several.
I wanted a bug type car so I found some clip art and then traced it in my software and then separated the parts out (which takes longer than it sounds!!) I then duplicated it on my mat and split the design so I could set my mat up with a strip of grey card a strip of green card and a strip of black card to cut all three at once. This one is a 17th birthday.
I then inked the edges of each cut out with chalk inks before mounting on my card background with some foam pads on some of the parts for dimension. To ground the car on the background, I added a strip of Washi tape as a road.
And to get around the large letter stamp for this one that is to be posted, I did it all flat, without foam pads, still looks great!
I needed to 19th cards so I made a template for those too.

That's another clutter full of cards done! TFLx
