Project Life Week 40 - journaling mad!

Some weeks there is just so much I want to say that the photo's take a back seat and the journling takes over. This was one of those weeks.
I still managed to fit in some ephemera, like the Jamie Oliver at home party I went to and a phone message slip from work and my 2012 salary card that has been superseded  To look back on teachers wages in the future will be very interesting!! I am adding more and more digital details to my photo's. I love all the brushes and have started to collect some, mostly from Studio Calico.

Finally got Sicily put to bed & some layering ideas

This album has been sitting around, waiting to be done since August. We had such lovely weather, I did not do much scrapping this summer, so it has been all left to do. I could not face starting my December Daily preparations until this little baby was out of the way. Everything was ready. I had selected my papers, I had been collecting embellishments from all my recent kits, that were travel related, I had my photos printed off ready and I had even prepared the paper bags that I was making the album from, so really it was just time to assemble it I was short of.
The basis for the album came from a carrier bag that we received at the Supermarket in Sicily that  had the letters Si on the front. I knew I wanted to use this. It actually mad e 3 pages.

I always like to use full 6x4 photo's some of which I trim to 4x4 for my holiday albums. That way the photograph shows the most detail possible, after all I want to remember all these views.
I won a competition on Instagram run by Studio calico and  had been sent a lot of Simple Stories goodies, so they formed the bulk of the pages and embellishments.
I have been researching layering techniques again recently, I loved the "Pop off the page" classes i did at Studio Calico and that inspired me to create my own Layering board over at Pinterest. here.
I tried to prepare some items to layer. I cut all my small scraps of paper up and made my self a scrap box.
I am sure this will mean my scrapping gets quicker. I grouped the sizes and colours roughly.
I then got out all my punches and did lots of punch outs from my scraps to make a dish full.

Then I started layering up with Washi tape, chipboard, brads and paperclips.

Finally I added memorabilia in little pockets, essential in my view to any travel album.

The die cuts add another dimension.

Finally, the summer is over. TFLx

Catching up Week 37 & 38 Project Life

Week 37 had more stitched tags from Amy Tangerine on it, and a couple of silhouette files cut in chipboard.
I also included some ephemera from a vets visit and some photographs with digital stamp brushes.
Week 38 had one of my Letterpress cards on the title card and included a Letterpress greeting card I received from a neighbour. TFLx

Catching up!! Project Life Weeks 34 & 35

I had not posted these two weeks of project life spreads, Weeks 34 and 35. Despite calling my last post week 34, I had included the pages for week 36! Duh! I decided to break out the embossing powders and the heat gun and add some details to some cards like Nic Harper does over at Studio Calico. Its a long time since I heat embossed.
Week 34 was a bit 'photo light' when I came to look in my files!

My nice got engaged whilst away on holiday and I had not documented that, so I moved it to this week, once I had seen and photographed the ring. I added a photo from the internet from the football match hubby had been to too. It is another way around lack of photo's! Stitching on an Amy Tangerine tag, some confetti and the title of the Studio Calico online class I took that week also helped to fill it up. I added a few digital elements to some photos, to add interest.

Week 35 was also a little bit photo light! I managed to keep track of things via the home diary and did a lot of journaling here. More digital elements added to the photo's here too. TFLx

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!

So let's talk December Daily and Christmas Countdown!
Over the last four years, I have completed a December Daily (which you can view if you click on the tab heading at the top of this page.) I have also made 24 projects through November, which I called my Christmas Countdown.
The original December Daily idea came from Ali Edwards Blog. The first two years I made my own album using recycled envelopes and paper bags. The third year I used a recycled children's board book and added pages. Last year I used a Studio Calico Handbook and page protectors and this year I have decided to use another one. Ali has shown a video clip of the latest Studio Calico kit she will be using, including a special handbook album this year. It looks great, but unfortunately is out of my budget. So that got me thinking, instead of my Christmas Countdown projects through November this year, I am going to plan my own December album similar to a Project life album and prepare various cards daily through November using my own stash. I will be using different techniques and share them here on my Blog. If you want to play along and use my downloads and make your own December Daily kit, feel free to join in. Well that's the plan anyway......... TFLx
