Wrapping up 2014!

My aim today was to get Project Life 2014 wrapped up. I managed weeks 47,48 & 49. I'm happy with that as my December pages are going to be collage pages anyway because I have completed my December Daily in detail, this just needs to be a summary.
So what are my thoughts on 2014? Well I was thinking today about my one little word for 2014 which was Strong and I chose it because I knew in my heart of hearts that I would have to face losing Barney sometime in the year. We had be fortunate to keep him as long as we did but February 17th turned out to be the day I dreaded. I knew it was going to be hard, but had not imagined the grief I would go through, nor the guilt I would feel for calling the vet that day. Somehow I got through it and agreed with hubby we would leave some time before making any future pet decision.
I did not anticipate my elder son deciding to go back to University to study for his PGCE, giving up the security of a full time baking job at Sainsbury's, not what he wanted, to follow a difficult path and pass the necessary tests to get a place. With hard work, on both my part and his, he had the strength of will to succeed and I to withstand the pressure of tutoring him in Maths & English to reach the required standard and he passed! Something I was amazed by but he apparently knew would happen because despite his special needs, he will not give up!
I could not have foreseen my job at school disappearing this year. I was told as we broke up for Easter and offered a 'suitable alternative' but it didn't suit me! So I was strong and I walked away! Scary after 12 years but I had faith in my ability and total support from hubby to look for pastures new! Not easy with our younger son starting his final year at dance school but definitely good for my health!
Hubby finally opened his new branch at work in June and appointed his new staff. A great challenge for him once again, but something he loves.
We took our summer holiday in Sicily again this year and returned refreshed but anxious about my unemployment! September came and went without any work and actually that was a blessing! I felt calm and refreshed but the house felt empty.
In October the work started coming in and we booked to visit my SIL in Germany for the first time in 2 years. Actually the first time in about 20 years not in the school holidays!!
In November even more work came in and I was working part of everyday! Planning was taking over once again and things began to mount up! I got a bit down with myself, that I had let it take over and could not say 'no' once again and decided that I missed having a four legged friend to de stress my life and get me out every day. One day I just made that call by chance that led me to Sergio and that day has changed all our lives for the better!
We went to Germany and returned with excitement that a new chapter in our lives was about to begin.
In December we took delivery of our newest family member and it coincided perfectly with one of my work commitments ending at Christmas.
We have had a fantastic Christmas all together and reached the end if another challenging year.
I am blessed to still have both my parents, who have had both had a good year health wise compared to 2013.
So what about 2015? Well, I saw a quote the other day along the lines of "life is something that happens whilst we a busy making plans!' Something like that anyway and it made me think that we get so busy making plans we forget to live the life that is passing! My word for 2015 is 'live'. I don't want to miss what's happening right now whilst trying to plan the future. Let's just enjoy everyday, every dog walk and certainly every crafting moment!
Happy New Year to all my crafty friends!

Christmas day pages! December Album

Started this section of the album with an acetate star page over my star embellishment page, that I made using Prima gems on a star cut out.

Back of the Christmas Eve page had the map of the North Pole with a couple of Santa tags  attached.
Christmas day was a collage of black and whiote photo's arranged in a tree shape as seen on Pinterest, with an gold embossed chipboard embellishment in the centre. X is for Xmas day!
This page was made using some die cut polaroid frames for my gift tags and a couple of cracker jokes from the Christmas lunch. I will journal on these two pages later. TFLx

Days 21, 22, 23 & 24 December Album

More pages from  y December album. Don't forget a lot of these are scraplifted or inspired by my Christmas layouts board on Pinterest here.
This page for my son's birthday has an interactive photo booklet on the front, so I cut a large hole in the page protector and stitched it all around the sides to hold it in place, that way you can look at the booklet without sliding the whole thing out.
A Heidi swapp project life gold overlay on this one.
Usedf my Cameo to cut the Zzzz out and and then backed with patterned paper. Punched out hearts and stitched together an embellishment. Journaling in white pen.
Added a vellum page before Christmas eve to break up the album a bit. Stitched the gold letters to it.
Christmas eve page includes a quote from some Crate paper from last year. Title is "Twas the night before Christmas." TFLx

Days, 9,10, 11 December Album

Day 9 was all about the tree!
I was a bit worried my album was looking very "samey" so I introduced a vellum page that I printed a tree picture from the web in greyscale onto and then stitched a 'happy' die cut in red mirri card on the top. I added a paper edge to the side for reinforcement where I punched the holes for the binder rings.
Day 10 I did a playlist of my favourite Christmas tunes. No photo on this page but that's ok. I like mixing gold and silver too.
Day 11 was for the page K is for Kiss, it needed no journaling other than the rub on at the bottom that says 'you are my moon and stars' used the studio calico die cuts again, this time in silver and silver mist with gold rub ons. TFL

Days 6,7,8 of my December Album

 G is for gifts....
 P is for Pointsettia.....
 H is for happiness......
It has been a bit complicated to do the alphabet out of sequence but I select a word that fits with the date and what's happening and I record the date on each page but assemble the album alphabetically. Some days have two pages, like H is for happy. TFLx

Free advent calendar page cut file & page 1 & 2 December ABC completed!

There's one thing I can say about getting ahead with base page preparation, each page is done in double quick time every day of December! For A is for Advent I took a picture of my advent calendar and sized it to 2x2 to go under door one of this cut file calendar I made using my silhouette. Journaling is under the A door and one other. Add a few sequins and it's complete!
As my Christmas gift to you I will make this page cut file available for the month of December 2014 download here and leave a comment below if you do, as it is nice to know who uses them! Link me up to any finished project with it too.
Page 2 was easy to finish off too! This scraplifted page from justg was mostly done apart from photo and journaling, finished this off quick sharp! Printing on my Selphy means you can get done in a flash each day too! TFLx

Coming along nicely, more December diary preparation

This page is a scraplift of a layout by lifelovepaper from my Pinterest board. This is going to be L is for lights. Ii used gold and silver on here and added some green stitching to tie in with the digital Project life card I printed off from stampin up.
This page is J is for jingle and I used a Stephanie Bryan layout as a basis for this one. I will add a list of Christmas tunes on the tag and maybe a photo of my newest Christma CD sleeve. I switched the top two red pieces of card on this one after the photo as I wanted a warmer red. I will also add more stitching or mist to this later.
This page is a variation on Shanna Noel layout from my board. Just a hint of green in the hand cut trees for my page about trimming the tree. The date tag may change nearer the time. That's why they are stapled on, in fact after these three layouts I have left the date numbers off until after I have taken each photo.
This 8.5 x 11 album is going to be different to my others and makes a change from the pocket pages I've made before, that and the monochrome pics!
Which is your favourite so far? TFL x

December Daily another 3 foundation pages

I'm really enjoying making these foundation pages for my December album! I am putting together a skeleton page and then popping any extras in a plastic sleeve ready to add with the photograph. This date is the day we get the new puppy I know I am going to have lots of pic, but hope to pick a couple. One for this page which is H is for Happy in my Christmas alphabet. Ii used 3 Heidi Swapp gold foil project Life cards from her value kit and cut down the Pink Paislee Merry and bright 8 card to the same size and rounded the corners. I layered a watercolour paper tag, spritzed with Mister Hueys gold mist over some gold vellum and added a touch of colour in the red ribbon, which I've kept long so it looks like the puppy's new red lead. The acrylic frame will hold a monochrome picture of our newest family member and space for some journaling.
Not sure if I will add these extras or not.
Here is another page for the puppy, K is for Kiss,  This was based on a layout by Louise Nelson, from my Pinterest board here. I cut out the gold transparent You are Here from Studio Calico and layered it with a gold doily and some Martha Stewart gilding dripped onto black card. Gold thread, a chipboard frame & arrows from Crate Paper, complete the foundation.
This page was based on a layout by Scattered Confetti, using more Heidi Swapp gold foil Value Kit Project Life cards and a Pink Paislee Merry & Bright card trimmed to the same size and rounded. A snippet of Maggie Holmes gold striped vellum is also stitched on. A Heidi Swapp 3x4 file folder will hide the journaling. The wood veneer tree I bought in Germany. Space for a monochrome 3x3 photo on this one. I maybe will stitch around the edge on my machine in red to add a hint of festive colour. This page is for I is for Instagram so maybe the file folder will  hold a couple more Inst faves too! I could add extra pages in that and maybe some sort of fastening to hold it closed in the album. I will see how it develops.
Hope you are enjoying these base pages as much as I am! TFLx

December Daily - 3 Foundation pages

I don't do many layouts at the moment and haven't done this year, so when I decided to to my December Daily a bit differently this year, I thought an album of layouts would be nice for a change rather than my pocket pages of the last two years. I also thought I would analyse what things had made me pin pages to my Inspiration board and I could incorporate that into my album.
This page is based on a page by justg from Studio Calico here. I liked it because I thought it would fit my monochrome theme with just a few pops of colour. You can see the index print of the original layout on the left and this is how I intend to do it.
My base was an 8.5x11 white cardstock that will go inside a page protector. I added 3 and a half black tags, each with a different washi tape on the 2 tag is from IKEA and the grey tag is from the Crate Paper mixed tags set. I added the '3' Merry and bright card by Pink Paislee as a mat for my black and white picture when I take it. The journaling will be on the black tags in a white pen. I think this page will be B is for Baking in my alphabet.
This page is based on a layout by Paige Evans here. I used some slide mounts I cut out with my Silhouette on gold card, patterned paper and silhouette chipboard and then layered together.

You can design your own or buy a pattern from the online store. I added some dotted lines for stitching too.
I arranged my frames in a similar way and added a veneer today frame and cut down the Pink Paislee merry and bright 4 card and my IKEA 4 tag. The white paper shows where I will place my 2x2 black and white pictures and journaling. I stitched it all down ready to go. This will be my D for decorations page I think. I like slide frames and think the gold card adds a little sparkle to the monochrome theme.
My third foundation page is one from Becky Novacek here. I think that I will add the large gold letters stitched over the top of the 6x4 picture.
I think this will be my E for everyone page as the 5th is hubby's birthday.
After I completed these base pages I decided not to add the numbers just make a selection of base pages for every letter of the alphabet page and a few spare. That way i can decided which layout suits which picture  I can then assemble the album by date or by alphabet depending how I feel.
These last two pages are base pages that wont be in page protectors so they are larger. I intend to stitch two back to back with a reinforcement piece down the ring binder edge. For this reason I have tried to keep my embellishing away from either the left or right hand side edge., so I can punch the holes.
I'm really enjoying this preparation page work and putting bits together in page protectors to finish each layout. I think it will speed up the whole album process. Some days may end up with more than one page and that's fine! With having the new puppy arrive in two weeks time, I think Ill have my hands full so planning for some time saving is a great idea! TFLx
